True Blue Smoothie Bowl Recipe: 3 Ways

This recipe can be done 3 ways—by using spirulina, butterfly pea flower tea, or blueberries.
In order to let the blue color shine through, you have to make sure that you only use either white or yellow ingredients as this will avoid turning your smoothie into another shade like magenta.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup plant based milk
  • 2 bananas or 1 cup of pineapple or other white/yellow fruit
  • 2 tablespoons almond flour/ ground almonds
  • ½ avocado or ½ cup rolled oats optional: makes smoothie thick and filling
  • 1 tablespoon date syrup or maple syrup

Blue Ingredients (Choose one or several of the following options)

  • 1 cup of butterfly pea tea. Replace the milk with the tea or the smoothie will be too thin.
  • 1 tablespoon of butterfly pea tea powder
  • 1 tablespoon blue spirulina powder
  • 1 cup blueberries

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to your blender and blend for 1 minute or until smooth.
  • Serve either in a glass or in a bowl. You can put your own toppings on a bowl to make it look pretty. For example you could use blueberries, raspberries, nuts or seeds.
