There has been a long gap between the Green Smoothie Ultimate Guide 1 and Ultimate Guide 2, but finally I got there with a third instalment. This guide gives you more green smoothie resources to help you on your journey to health. Green Smoothie Gurus
1: Victoria Boutenko/ Raw Family
Victoria Boutenko moved to the USA with her family in 1990. They were all very ill and after adopting a 100% raw food diet, most of their health problems were eliminated. Victoria’s son Sergei Boutenko was healed from diabetes and she explained how all 8 of his fillings popped out and enamel grew back to fill the holes. 4 years later Victoria realised they weren’t getting enough greens in their diet and they adopted the green smoothie. Victoria Boutenko is the author of several books including ‘Green For Life’ in which she promoted the green smoothie which is one of the reasons the green smoothie is as popular as it is today. She also wrote the green smoothie revolution. She perfected the recipe for a sweet tasting green smoothie with the correct ratio of fruit to greens (60:40). Victoria is currently travelling the world teaching people about health and introducing them to green smoothies. She and her family also run raw food retreats. Visit The Raw Food Family website.
2: Ann Wigmore
The late Ann Wigmore co-founded the Hippocrates Health Institute. She was a believer of wheatgrass juice and living foods to heal and detox the body. Ann believed there are two types of disease, deficiency and toxemia. Deficiency is caused by eating or even overeating foods which have no or little nutritional value such as junk foods. Toxemia describes toxins stored in the body accumulated through processed foods and chemicals on our foods. Living foods are raw foods in their unprocessed natural state or foods which are prepared to be more easily digested.
Ann created the energy soup which is a blend of greens and other healthy ingredients, otherwise known as the green smoothie. But she did put sprouts and other savoury food in it too. She also invented rejuvelac which is a fermented drink.
Ann believed in blending everything she ate as it freed her body from all the energy required to digest food that she only needed 2 hours sleep when she was in her 80s. Ann believed in running everywhere even in the last couple of years before she died.
Ann documented how her hair turned from grey back to dark again after following her living foods diet. The Hippocates Health Institute is still running and can be visited here. Her healing diet can be followed in her popular book.
3: Green Smoothie Girl (aka Robyn Openshaw)
Robyn Openshaw, Green Smoothie Girl was raised on a very simple vegetarian diet and had enjoyed good health until she started eating a Standard American Diet (SAD) when she had her four children. All four children developed a lot of health problems including severe asthma. She was told by doctors that diet couldn’t cure asthma but after changing their diets to healthy ones they were cured of asthma and other health problems.
She had also watched two of her family members with cancer experiencing very different outcomes. Her young uncle relied on traditional methods and died of complications but her grandma managed to heal herself with a raw food diet.
Green Smoothie Girl now teaches people about health and the benefits of green smoothies on her website and blog.
4: Green Smoothie Queen (Tera Warner)
Tera Warner from Terawarner.com has a lot of great information about green smoothies on her website. You can take her free 3 day green smoothie challenge. Tera has a passion for teaching you how to have a healthy body image, lose weight and detox naturally.
5: Valerie Winters/ Green Smoothie Experiment
Valerie Winters managed to lose 125 pounds in 6 months by only drinking green smoothies and nothing else. She had a blog where she detailed her green smoothie experiment in 2007 but she took it down shortly afterwards. Many people were encouraged by her journey and are still searching for her blog today.
6: Lauren Conrad
Lauren Conrad is the star of hit TV shows, Laguna Beach and The Hills. Lauren has a great recipe for a green smoothie that ‘doesn’t taste like grass’ on her website.
7: Angela Liddon/ Green Monster Smoothie
Angela from Oh She Glows healthy living vegan blog is the girl behind the green monster movement. She calls her green smoothies, green monsters and has a website dedicated to green monster recipes. Her slogan is ‘We like it green’ and Angela saw a massive increase in her energy and an improvement in her skin after she started drinking them.
8: Green Smoothie Linda Wagner
Linda Wagner is a nutrional coach who enjoys helping people to recover their health. She used to be a competitive athlete. She has several great smoothie, juice and other healthy recipes on her website.
