I’ve chosen my very best green smoothies for weight loss recipes that are also super fast, incredibly healthy AND so tasty you’ll not even notice you are drinking something so green and healthy.

Thankfully I started a daily green smoothie habit over 10 years ago and it’s been one of the best things to ever happen to me.
Not only have I been able to drop 5 dress sizes and reach my ideal weight, but I’ve been able to maintain that weight for the most part, apart from during both of my pregnancies where I just couldn’t stomach green smoothies, and I piled the weight back on.

But as soon as the babies were born, I got right back into my green smoothie sipping habit and all the excess weight fell off in just a few months.
I really can’t go long without my green smoothies. Whenever I go without them for even a day, I notice my energy decreasing along with my cravings and hunger. And I just can’t wait to get my green smoothie fix in again.
Two Types Of Green Smoothies
As far as I’m concerned, there are two types of green smoothie, a green smoothie snack and a complete meal.

Green Smoothies As Snacks
Most green smoothies fall into this category. If you see a recipe that is just fruit and leafy greens blended up into a green smoothie, you can assume it is just a snack.
This is because fruit and leafy greens are so low in calories and so high in volume that you can make a large glass of blended fruit and greens and the calories can still be very low.
The other thing to note here is that as healthy as fruit and leafy greens are, you still need other types of ingredients in your diet to make your meals nutritionally complete.
So if you start replacing all your meals with just fruit and leafy greens, you’ll soon find yourself lacking in essential nutrients.
Another thing to mention is that traditional green smoothies won’t fill you up for long. So if you drink a green smoothie for breakfast, more often than not you’ll find yourself hungry within one hour.
That’s because you probably only consuming about 200 calories – not enough to sustain anyone, even if you are trying to lose weight.
So my recommendation is that you drink traditional green smoothies as snacks – not as meal replacements.
You can eat your healthy meals as normal, and if you get a bit peckish in between meals, whip up a quick green smoothie and it’s guaranteed to satisfy your cravings and keep you going until your next meal.

Green Smoothies As Meal Replacements
To be able to replace your entire meal with a green smoothie, it’s got to contain more ingredients than just fruit and leafy greens. You’ll be needing some natural protein, healthy essential fats and enough calories to sustain you from one meal to another.
I have developed my own concept of green meal replacements.
My concoction contains 6 types of ingredients which are liquid, fruit, leafy greens, healthy protein source, something naturally sweet to keep the sweet cravings away and ingredients that are a bit more calorific to provide extra nourishment and satiety.
I call my concoction, the Green Thickie because it is thick and green.

Why I Don’t Do Much Snacking
So now you know that most of the time I drink Green Thickies and not green smoothies as snacks.
The main reason is because I’m just too busy. I’d rather have a meal that fills me up from one meal to another. I simply don’t need to snack, so I don’t.
But I know that most people enjoy their snacks, and for that reason, I am sharing my favorite green smoothies as snacks recipes with you today.
15 Green Smoothies For Weight Loss: Tasty, Fast & Healthy
Anytime you feel the need to snack in between meals, blend up one of these green beauties and you’ll be sorted.
This will help you lose weight because you’ll be cutting out all the junk snacks you normally much on in between meals.
Simply cutting out junk food from your diet will allow you to drop a good amount of weight without making any other change.
But if you want to be more intentional about your weight loss, or if you only have a couple of stubborn pounds to lose, you’ll need to either calculate your calories for weight loss using a calculator like this or you can let someone else do the calorie counting for you and follow a meal plan.
