Even though eggnogs are more popular in the states, it is thought that the eggnog originated from England (where I’m from) as it was served in a noggin which was a wooden mug used to serve alcohol. Nowadays the word noggin is a slang word in the UK which means head. We would say to each other ‘Did you use your noggin?’ if someone has done something silly and hadn’t thought it through.
This recipe’s main ingredients are bananas. If you don’t eat bananas you can replace them with mangos, peaches or more coconut. You could also just use avocado instead of bananas (replace 1 bananas with 1/2 avocado and 1/2 cup milk) and use more sweetener (to taste) but your eggnog will go slightly green so you can use 1 teaspoon of tumeric to bring the colour back to yellow if you decide to use avocado.
Also – if you still fancy adding some alcohol, a 1/4 of a cup of rum would go down nicely. However if you don’t add extra alcohol, you will still get a little alcoholic flavour from the vanilla extract used in this recipe.

Hi Katherine,I just wanted to tell you I completed the 7 day detox and I feel so great.
I have lost 6lbs, do not feel like I need more my morning coffee, the flushing of my facial skin from rosacea has dramatically reduced and I am so excited to wake up each morning and make a green thickie for breakfast!!
I am a stay at-home, homeschooling momma of 3 littles and at times so busy I would forget to feed myself!
I would go most of the day without eating and then snack on random things.
I gained 60 pounds the last 6 years during pregnancy.
I have lost 30lbs but recently plateaued and have felt so frustrated.
I’ve tried everything from paleo and keto to the point where I didn’t know what to eat or how much and felt like even eating fruit was bad for me which thankfully it’s not!
What a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing a simple but effective program.
I’m so excited to continue another week with this plan! Thankful Stephanie

This sounds delicious. I’ll definitely share this recipe with my family during Christmas.
Would you recommend another milk over coconut? I love that milk, but for some reason its taste is too strong in recipes for me.

Hey there! I’m from the UK too and although egg nog (noggin!) isn’t really traditional, I saw the cartons in Tesco and just had to think of a way to spice it up for Christmas. This recipe sounds deeelish!
