So what are fermented foods?
They are foods that are left for a period of time in salt and their own juices to ferment and preserves the food.
In modern life we don’t need to preserve food because we have fridges and freezers.
So why on earth are so many people getting into fermenting their food in this modern age?
Simply because fermented foods improve your health and specifically your digestion.
Have you ever heard the saying you are what you digest?
It’s so true.
No matter how healthy your diet is – if your body doesn’t digest the food properly it won’t absorb the nutrients and your health will suffer.
Adding a small amount of fermented foods to your meal is all that’s needed to give you robust digestion and great health.
The process of fermenting creates beneficial enzymes, b-vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids and a whole heap of different strains of probiotics.
We are seriously lacking in probiotics in our modern world because we no longer eat food directly from the land. And even if we did – the soil doesn’t contain the same level of nutrients that it once did.
So eating fermented foods is pretty essential – if you want great health and good functioning digestion.
So here are 10 of the best fermented food recipes to get you started on your fermented food journey.
I myself got out of the habit of making fermented foods, so this list is as much for me as it is for you. I will let you know in the future which of the recipes I have tried.

Hi Katherine,I just wanted to tell you I completed the 7 day detox and I feel so great.
I have lost 6lbs, do not feel like I need more my morning coffee, the flushing of my facial skin from rosacea has dramatically reduced and I am so excited to wake up each morning and make a green thickie for breakfast!!
I am a stay at-home, homeschooling momma of 3 littles and at times so busy I would forget to feed myself!
I would go most of the day without eating and then snack on random things.
I gained 60 pounds the last 6 years during pregnancy.
I have lost 30lbs but recently plateaued and have felt so frustrated.
I’ve tried everything from paleo and keto to the point where I didn’t know what to eat or how much and felt like even eating fruit was bad for me which thankfully it’s not!
What a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing a simple but effective program.
I’m so excited to continue another week with this plan! Thankful Stephanie
