You might have heard of a recipe floating around that guarantees you a good night’s sleep made from apple cider vinegar and honey?
I am not eating honey as I’m a vegan, but I still wanted to try this as I’ve had insomnia all my life and often have struggled to fall asleep even if I’m tired.
I’ve tried everything else so I thought – why not just try it without the honey?
Here is the recipe I used:
Apple Cider Vinegar Sleep Solution

- 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar (you need to get one with the mother like this. See it on Amazon)
- ¼ – 1 Cup of Water: more water is better as Vinegar can burn as it goes down. But if you can’t stomach a whole cup, just try 1/4 cup as it is easier to drink in one go.
Mix the Vinegar and the water in a small glass and drink it down in one.
It doesn’t taste delicious – which is probably why the honey is used. But it is bearable and if you drink some plain water after you’ve had this you’ll be just fine.
If you are looking for a vegan alternative to honey, this is my favorite sweetener because it is made from whole foods which are so much healthier for you and contains added minerals to help you sleep.
So what happened after drinking this?
It was late but I’d been on my computer all night (this is a problem because blue light from your computer in the evening stops you sleeping) so I was tired but wired and not really feeling like I was going to be sleeping naturally tonight.
But after drinking this recipe, I did feel immediately tired. It honestly did work straight away. I went to bed and sure enough I did get to sleep really fast. I also got up as usual to go to the toilet mid way through the night but I did get straight back to sleep again which is unusual for me.
Wow, pretty amazing!

“My MI fit watch says that I get much more deep sleep when I drink ACV in a glass of water before bed. Last night: 4h 32 m deep sleep, 3 hours light sleep! Further proof: there were two nights that I forgot to drink it and I hardly got any deep sleep! So it works for me!”
