I really thought I was going to die.
But as I looked around, everyone else around me was completely calm.
They were reading their books, eating snacks and chatting as if nothing was happening.
But why was I so scared?

I was trying to be rational but for some reason I have developed a fear of flying.
I never used to be scared of flying at all, but now I am terrified.
Well it’s not actually a fear of flying, but a fear of turbulence.
I am fine taking off in the plane, and when everything is going smoothly.
But as soon as there is a slightest bit of turbulence, I am terrified and feel like I’m going to die.
My husband sits with my kids so they don’t see me being terrified as they love flying and find it all so exciting.
But for some reason when my stomach drops and I start to feel sick, I can’t seem to rationalise the fear away.
Fear is something that we all struggle with in some ways, even if we’re not aware of it.
I read a great book lately called feel the fear and do it anyway. It’s such an amazing book and if you haven’t read it, I recommend you read it. It’s not just good for fear, but good for living a happy life too.
I think I need to find some strategies for overcoming my own fear, and there are plenty of things we can do such as hypnotherapy, educating ourselves as to why our fear is irrational, CBT, essential oils, breathing, affirmations.
So I’m going to go and try one of the above suggestions myself, and I’ll keep you posted on whether it works for me.
I have tried essential oils for fear before and they have worked really well, but when I’m gripped with fear on a plane I am too busy holding on for dear life and can’t even reach down and grab my oils at that point.
So I will try something else, perhaps hypnotherapy as I’ve heard great things about that.
What are you afraid of?
Do you know some people are actually afraid of being happy? It’s actually quite common and I understand why. If you’re happy then you put yourself at an even greater risk of disappointment in the future.
Some people are afraid to lose weight, and be healthy as they are scared as to how their life would change in the process.
Would their partners still feel the same way about them?
Would they attract unwanted attention?
Will their colleagues and friends take a different attitude to them?
Will they experience jealousy?
I encourage you to have a good think about this question….
Is there something stopping you from losing weight and allowing yourself to be healthy?
You might surprise yourself if you ponder on this question over the next few days.
