A couple of months ago I invited you to join me for a petrochemical Weight Loss Challenge. This is a 3 week protocol that can remove toxins along with stored fat and cellulite by using essential oils.
So this is a protocol that breaks down the petrochemicals in the body. It was developed by Tiffany Rowen. You can listen to an audio that explains more about this protocol here. Tiffany explains that this can help you drop a dress size, eliminate cellulite and clear up multiple health problems including clearing up your skin, improving your digestion and sleeping better.

Petrochemical Weight Loss Detox
3 Week Protocol
You will need:
- 3 bottles of Citrus Fresh essential oil blend by Young Living
- 1 bottle of Juva Cleanse essential oil blend by Young Living
- 2 bottles of Grapefruit essential oil by Young Living
- 1 Bag of empty vegetable capsules

Instructions
- Mix the 3 bottles of Citrus Fresh with the bottle of Juva Cleanse together in a small glass container with a lid.
- Leave overnight
- Pour the contents of the glass container back into the 3 bottles of citrus fresh
- You are to use 1 bottle of this mixture per week
- Apply this generously to your target areas. One bottle should be enough for 2 target areas (e.g. stomach and hips) If you have more target areas you will need more. Do not dilute the oils or it probably won’t work.
- Take 5-12 drops of grapefruit, either internally by using a capsule (available at Young Living) or rubbing this on the target areas also.
Warning: Grapefruit can react to certain medications. Please check your medications before beginning this protocol.
Another thing to note is that citrus essential oils are photosensitive which means you shouldn’t expose your target areas to the sun within 12 hours of applying these oils to the skin.
You may also experience detox symptoms from this protocol while the toxins are being removed from your body.
My experience with the petrochemical protocol
Are you ready for my before and after photos? I debated whether to show my awful thighs to the world, but I think it’s good to be realistic about what kind of results you can expect. I didn’t suddenly get beautiful toned slim legs after 3 weeks of this protocol. My thighs will always be my problem area – that’s the way I’m built and unless I significantly change my workout schedule then I doubt that is going to change.
These are the kind of results you can expect by not changing your diet or exercise program. They are not so obvious unless you look closely, and until I actually saw my photos side by side I didn’t realise my legs had improved so much.
So I am pleased with the results. I still don’t like my legs but after 3 weeks of no effort, just from rubbing some oils on my legs, I think this is pretty good going!

Today I’m giving you an update and telling you what happened when I did this 3 week protocol.
I posted about my experience in my petrochemical facebook group. So I’m going to take some excerpts from my posts in the group to show you how I was feeling as I went through the challenge.
June 26 AM
Woo hoo! My oils have arrived for the petrochemcial protocol!
- 3 bottles of Citrus Fresh 15ml
- 2 bottles of Grapefruit 15ml
- 1 bottle of Juva Cleanse 15ml
It is the first time I’ve had citrus fresh and juva cleanse. The Citrus Fresh smells amazing, if you love citrus like I do you will adore this smell.
The Juva Cleanse isn’t so nice. It smells like something you would want to eat, but a savoury kind of dish, not one you would want to wear! I think the smell of pepper comes through quite strongly. I wonder if the smell of the citrus fresh will overpower the smell of the Juva Cleanse when we mix them together.
I already had some grapefruit and I adore the smell of it. I also love the taste of the essential oil which is strange because I don’t really like actual grapefruits on their own. I am still undecided whether to add the grapefruit to a capsule or drink it in a glass of water.
Now I just need to get mixing and leave the oils for a while to mix together.
Here is my 3 bottles of Citrus Fresh and my bottle of Juva Cleanse all mixed up in a jar with a lid, all ready to go tonight! So excited.
June 26 PM
I just put my first lot of mixture on! I used a small funnel to get the oil from my jar back into the bottles. I used the Juva Cleanse bottle too so I’ve got 3 full bottles and one half full bottle and one of my bottles overspilled on to my counter. I didn’t want to waste any so I mopped it up with my hands and rubbed it all over my stomach! I then went and applied a lot more to my thighs and did a bit of my calves too as they are also fatty and lumpy. I expected the oil to be greasy but it felt very light and it absorbed into my skin almost immediately so it was so hard to tell where I had put it. It was orange in colour so that made it easy at the front of my legs but I struggled to see where I was applying it to the backs of my legs. I hope I got a good coverage. It doesn’t smell good but I’m trying to ignore the celery smell and breathe in the lovely citrus fragrance. No symptoms or itching so far but I’ll keep you posted.
June 27
I am now on to the 2nd day of the protocol. I have applied the mixture once in the evening and this morning too. I didn’t have any side effects that I noticed. I was feeling a bit sick this morning but I think it might just be because my daughter turned my heating on full blast and I didn’t realise for a while! (It’s already hot in my house).
I am used to the smell now and it’s not really overpowering.
This morning I woke up and I just felt lighter, it’s hard to explain but just cleaner and not as weighed down.
Yesterday I weighed myself, measured myself and took some photos. I tried to take photos of my thighs with my phone and they came out too good flattering. I knew they didn’t look realistic, so I took some with my dslr camera and they came out exactly as I see myself in the mirror. (Pretty horrible in my opinion) An interested thing I noticed was that my legs are a completely different colour to the rest of my body. The rest of my body is a light tan colour (no tan, just my natural colouring) and my legs are very pale/pinky coloured. I’m no expert but to me this shows that there is something going on with my legs and they’re not so healthy. Another interesting thing was that one of my legs was half an inch bigger than the other one. This confirmed my suspicions when trying on tight fitting clothes, one leg goes in and the other gets stuck!
June 28
Day 3 update: Yesterday I went out for a meal with my husband and then ate a cake (ok I had 2! They were small) After the second cake I started getting mild stomach cramps coming on and off for about half an hour then had a bit of diarrhoea which wasn’t nice. I used my peppermint and di-gize and felt back to normal within an hour. I have no idea if this was a detox from the protocol or just the food that I’d eaten affecting me. I do have very bad digestion normally and do get this kind of reaction quite often especially after eating out. Just two weeks ago the same thing happened to me after going out for lunch. So it may be nothing to do with the protocol but thought I’d mention it.
The good news is this morning I weighed myself and I am 2 pounds lighter and my legs are actually looking much smoother already.
So I’m very happy with the progress so far and hope it continues going in the same way.
July 2
I am 6 days in to the protocol today and was just starting to get a bit down that I hadn’t seen very much of a difference. My weight had been down and back up again and I thought I was seeing a slight improvement but didn’t know if I was imagining it.
But this morning there are big changes! My thighs have both lost half an inch (so one thigh is still bigger than the other) and the appearance of my thighs is definitely a lot better and much more noticeable, and I know weight may not have anything to do with it but I lost 4 pounds in total since I began this protocol. (Lost 2 pounds, put on 2 pounds, lost 4 pounds in the last 2 days)
I have had some detox effects though. I’ve had 3 instances of stomach cramps and having to rush to the toilet. I am still not sure if this is related to the protocol as I have bad digestion anyway. My enzymes will be arriving in the next couple of days so I know they will help with this. I also had about 2-3 days of a headache that mainly came when I bent over and my head would start thumping. I also felt a bit sickly a few times. Apart from that I’ve been feeling great. My appetite also seems to be regulating too. I used to feel hungry all the time and felt the need to constantly eat with low blood sugar, and now I am feeling a lot more stable. This is a very recent thing so I’ll see if this continues.
July 7
Time for an update from me. I am 11 days into the protocol. As far as my measurements and weight is going, I am still 4lbs down and still my thighs are half an inch smaller each. Nothing has changed there since day 6 and I haven’t noticed any further improvements in my cellulite. BUT
I have had a major health breakthrough. If you remember me saying my digestion was awful and I couldn’t wait for my detoxymes to arrive to help with that. Well the last few days my digestion has really improved even without the enzymes. Every single morning since before I could remember I have woken up and without being too graphic, had to run to the toilet. Travelling always used to worry me especially if I was in someone else’s house and couldn’t get to a toilet when I first woke up. Now that has gone! Totally gone! I no longer have that anymore, no urgency at all. I don’t want to go into details but things have really really improved in this area. I have not changed my diet at all and not changed anything else. When I first started this protocol I did have a few ‘stomach bug’ type episodes and I really feel that toxins had moved out of me and something has definitely shifted. So I am over the moon that I have had this massive health improvement.
July 16
I finished all of my juvacleanse and citrus fresh mixture this morning. I have lost 4 pounds in weight, 1/2 inch from both thighs (both still different sizes) and 1 inch from my hips. (I didn’t actually put the oil on my hips!) The appearance of my thighs is looking better but I definitely still have cellulite there. I am going to take some photos to compare the before and afters. I had some detox symptoms and then my digestion massively improved which I’m over the moon about. I also lost my appetite but only for a couple of days.
I am so glad I did this mainly for the health benefits.
I still have loads of grapefruit left so I made up a grapefruit body butter and going to use that on my legs from now on. I am also going to continue taking the grapefruit by capsule until that is finished.

Final reflections on the petrochemical protocol
I am so happy to have completed this protocol. It was pretty easy most of the time. I didn’t have to watch what I ate, starve or think about what I was eating at all. I didn’t have to do more exercise. I didn’t have to do anything crazy or unhealthy. I just carried on as normal and used some amazingly powerful essential oils.
My body had a really good detox, and not only did I improve the appearance of my skin, I lost some weight, and lost some inches. But more importantly I made a big long lasting improvement to my health. The changes that I experienced, I am still benefiting from even a couple of months later, and my weight has stayed stable.
I was also very blessed to be able to share this with others who also noticed real improvements in their life, health, weight, measurements, emotions and appearance of their body. I highly recommend this!

just have to say…your legs are fine and nice. it makes me sad that we have been so pressured to look like very thin celebrities that we are unable to love our normal size selves. i saw keira sedgwick right next to us once at an event and she is a very very tiny person. i think under 5′ tall and very tiny bone structure. i have met other film people who are also small people. this can not be seen on tv or at films. ok. enough ranting now. you look good.
