I have spent about 15 years of my life experiencing daily agonising pain.

I would always wake up with no pain, but by the evening my stomach had grown twice it’s size, my trousers would no longer fit, and I would be in agonising pain.

I would sit there all evening in pain, not being able to move much or do much.

Nobody knew what was causing it, the doctors just seemed happy they had ruled out anything serious.

But it had a massive impact on my life.

I often took painkillers to try and block out the pain but they didn’t really work.

Little did I know, I could have easily prevented all that agony, if only I knew what I know now.

That my diet was causing my pain.

Specifically dairy, and to a certain extent, pulses and beans too.

When I gave up dairy my IBS symptoms massively decreased but didn’t completely go away.  

I became a vegan which lends itself to eating a lot of beans and pulses. It wasn’t until I tried a different diet that didn’t include any beans that I was finally free from stomach pain for the first time in my adult life.

I have been free from daily stomach pain for years now, thankfully.  

I feel like I’ve got my life back.

Funnily enough, I actually do think that beans and pulses are a health food, but they don’t work for everybody, so it does pay to experiment yourself.
