When I started making smoothies part of my daily life for breakfast and dinner, I felt better during the day, slept well at night, and lost over 50 pounds!
In this article, I will share with you one of my most delicious green smoothie recipes that’s perfect for you if you are a chocolate lover and show you how a smoothie for dinner could be one of the best decisions you could make for your health.
Smoothies For Dinner? Good Or Bad?
One of the meals a lot of people struggle with is dinner.
To relieve yourself from the pressures of cooking you may want to introduce a smoothie for dinner into your diet. Smoothies are the perfect solution for when you don’t feel like cooking.
A meal replacement smoothie will give you an abundance of vitamins and nutrients such as good fats, protein, and antioxidants. Plus it will also make you feel satiated and full after drinking it!
If you have a meal replacement smoothie for dinner, make sure that for lunch you have something savory.
You don’t want to deprive yourself of sodium. It is an essential mineral that controls the fluid balance in your body with the help of the kidneys. It also affects muscle function and helps deliver nerve impulses.
Just like for dinner, having a meal replacement smoothie at other times of the day will help you avoid unhealthy saturated fats and processed sugars.
What To Eat With A Smoothie For Dinner
The awesome thing about green smoothies and the one I’ll be sharing later is that they are complete meal replacement smoothies.
There is no need to eat anything with it. Meal replacement smoothies fill you up and stave off hunger.
If you get hungry between meals or between smoothies, snack on healthy whole foods. You could try low-calorie veggies like lettuce, tomato, or cucumber.
Meal replacement smoothies already have enough calories as if you consumed an entire meal.
If you want to lose weight, create a calorie deficit. Adding too many calories in addition to the smoothie might be too much.
Is A Smoothie For Dinner Good For Weight Loss?
There are plenty of studies that suggest that replacing one or two meals with a meal replacement smoothie each day can significantly accelerate weight loss.
The key to healthy weight loss is to reduce your calorie intake. You could easily lose weight if you have a meal replacement smoothie for breakfast and dinner and have a healthy lunch with whole foods.

Another major benefit of meal replacement smoothies is that they are high in protein, which is one of the most essential nutrients for weight loss.
Higher protein helps you feel less hungry throughout the day, which means you consume fewer calories.
There have been studies that have shown that high-protein diets, especially having a meal replacement for dinner, will help you lower the desire to eat late at night.
This chocolate green smoothie is less than 500 calories and has 13 grams of protein.

How Often Should You Have A Green Smoothie For Dinner
Don’t worry about how many times you should have a smoothie instead of eating dinner.
As long as you are eating a balanced, savory meal for lunch, you can continue drinking dinner smoothies for as long as you want.
A green smoothie for dinner is still providing probably providing you with more nutrients than you would get from eating a full meal.
You are also lowering your calorie intake and filling yourself with wholesome ingredients to balance what you have already eaten earlier in the day for lunch.
You may never have to cook dinner again.
Why I Recommend Carob Powder Over Cacao Powder For A Dinner Smoothie
Carob powder comes from a pod found on the carob tree and many people promote it as a chocolate substitute.
Cacao powder looks similar, but it comes from beans you get from the cacao tree. Carob is a little milder than cacao but has a sweeter taste.
Both cacao and carob can belong to a balanced diet.
Two tablespoons of carob or cacao powder have about 25 calories, which makes up less than two percent of your recommended daily caloric intake.
Both powders also give you adequate dietary fiber, which is a kind of carbohydrate that may fight constipation, regulate blood sugar levels, and lower cholesterol.
Two tablespoons of carob powder provide 4.8 grams of fiber. This fiber intake is significant, considering for women, 25 grams are recommended each day and 38 grams for men.
Cacao has just a tad bit less fiber, with 4 grams per two-tablespoon serving. So, I would definitely recommend carob powder for its fiber content.
By the way, this chocolate green smoothie has a total of 13 grams of dietary fiber, which makes up 52 percent of the daily recommended value.
For a dinner replacement, I would not use cacao in the mix because it has caffeine, which could keep you awake.
Another reason I would recommend carob powder is that it has no stimulants.
I personally only ever use carob powder in my smoothies and homemade chocolate recipes because cacao doesn’t agree with me, and I prefer that my kids don’t consume caffeine.
I love the taste of carob powder and actually prefer it to cacao as it is sweeter.
Why This Green Smoothie Is Perfect For Getting A Good Night’s Sleep
Are you someone who gets late-night food cravings? It happens.
At first I wasn’t sure a smoothie for dinner would be sufficient to keep me from indulging in snacks.
The excellent thing about this meal replacement smoothie is that after drinking it, it will keep you from thinking about food in the evening.
You’ll feel full but at the same time feel lighter than if you had a solid meal, so you would be able to have a sounder sleep.
You won’t be eating unhealthy foods from late-night snacking that your body has to break down while you sleep, especially since that‘s the time when your metabolism is working at a slower rate.
You’ll wake up feeling great from such an incredible sleep and all because you chose a flavorful smoothie to replace your dinner with the previous night.

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups spinach
- 2 cups mango
- ¼ cup carob or cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ cup oats
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
- You can use frozen spinach or mango to cool the smoothie down if your blender can cope with frozen fruit.
- Drink slowly - at the same pace as you would eat a meal. This helps you feel fuller for longer and helps the smoothie digest better.
