It seems like I’m a bit late to the game. A lot of you have been adding essential oils to your green smoothies and green thickies for a long time. I’ve only just discovered how amazingly well green smoothies and essential oils go together. I have been passionate about green smoothies for a long time but I’ve only recently become passionate about essential oils.
Today I’m combining my two passions to bring you a green smoothie containing essential oils!
Disclaimer: WARNING – PLEASE READ BEFORE USING ESSENTIAL OILS
Not all essential oils can be taken internally. It can be dangerous to take essential oils internally unless they are food grade or general regarded as safe. (GRAS). It is better to assume that your essential oils can NOT be taken internally unless it is specifically stated that it is safe to ingest. The only brand I would recommend taking internally is Young Living. That is because their oils are completely pure therapeutic grade and no harmful chemicals have been used to extract the oils from the plants. If you are unsure about whether to do this it is better NOT to do this.
Essential oils are so highly concentrated that it’s better to take LESS not more. Start with just one drop of Young Living Food Grade Essential oil diluted in a glass of water and sip it slowly.

YOU MUST ONLY DRINK YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS FROM A GLASS. If you add essential oils to a plastic cup it can leach the plastic into the water which is very harmful for you.
Even before you take Young Living Food Grade Essential Oils internally, it is better to do a sensitivity test on your skin first just to be on the safe side. Some oils that are safe to ingest are ‘hot’ oils and they will sting your mouth if you don’t dilute them, so it is better to do your research and follow the advice of an expert when it comes to ingesting oils. I don’t recommend this for children, if you are pregnant or nursing or for the elderly.

Now that we’ve got the important stuff out of the way, we can talk about why you would want to ingest essential oils.

- Tastes amazing
It might seem like a new thing to eat essential oils but we’ve actually been doing it for a long time. I have several recipes on this website where I’ve added Peppermint Extract or Almond Extract to a smoothie. These are all essential oils. They are usually diluted in oil first as essential oils are very concentrated.
These extracts are mainly used for taste, but today we are adding therapeutic grade essential oils to our smoothie to help keep our frequencies high in order to remain healthy.
There is a lot of debate about whether we should even bother to eat our essential oils as applying oils to the skin can be extremely effective. Personally I’m going to try all methods of using essential oils to get maximum benefit, and I also love the taste of the oils, so I’m going to continue to do this, and you’ll be seeing more essential oils recipes on here in the future.
