7 Habits Of Highly Effective Skinny People

What habits do skinny people or people who have lost a lot of weight have that are different from you? Studies show that people who are naturally skinny have some habits in common.

Many people have lost weight by incorporating these 7 habits into their daily routines and you can too.

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Skinny People

1) They eat what they want

This may sound strange but people who are skinny don’t tend to put the “bad” food label on certain foods.

When you deem some foods off limits you are more likely to crave those foods, especially in times of stress.

People also tend to binge on these foods bringing on feelings of guilt or shame and then repeating the cycle.  This is particularly true for emotional or stress eaters.

If you allow yourself to indulge in your favorite treat now and then you are less likely to feel deprived and over indulge in them later.

2) They eat more real food

Skinny people tend to eat less junk food or fast food.

When you eat whole real food your body gets all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. This means less cravings and binge eating.

3) They drink plenty of water

Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to be healthy.

Drinking a glass of water before a meal will help you eat less.

Don’t drink water or other beverages during a meal though as it waters down your digestive enzymes and you won’t digest your food as well.  

Smoothies are a great way to stay hydrated. Drink a smoothie for breakfast and you will be less likely to get dehydrated throughout the day. This is because smoothies include healthy juice from fruit and usually some liquid such as water or coconut water.

4) They get regular exercise

Making exercise a priority is very important to maintain a healthy weight.

Find something you enjoy doing everyday. Work in the yard, build something, volunteer somewhere you have to do physical work. Exercise doesn’t have to be done at the gym.

5) Cook at home and make healthy meal plans

When you cook at home you have full control over the ingredients that go into your meal. You can choose healthy oils and organic ingredients.

Restaurant food is often over processed and full of chemicals, preservatives and pesticides. When your body gets overloaded with toxic chemicals it stores them in your fat cells creating extra fat in your body.

Creating  healthy weight loss meal plans and preparing foods in advance will keep you from grabbing fast food on the go or eating something unhealthy.

Pick one day a week to shop, prepare foods and store them in the fridge. This will make cooking easier and faster.

6) They have a max weight on the scale

Setting a limit to the amount of weight that is acceptable for you is a habit that anyone can incorporate into their life.

When you reach your upper limit weight it is an indication that you need to watch what you are eating and get more exercise. Remember though that crash dieting is not the answer to maintaining or losing weight.

7) They have a positive body image

Feeling good about your body no matter what your weight or weight loss goals are is important. A healthy body image will keep you from eating for the wrong reasons such as shame, guilt or unhappiness with your body.  

Do positive affirmations everyday such as “ I love my body” I am healthy and happy” or I am sexy no matter what I weigh”.  

Remember that the number on the scale in not important. Everyone has a different healthy weight that is right for them. Your healthy weight cannot be compared to someone else.

If you eat organic whole healthy food and exercise you will find that it will balance your hormones and the weight will naturally come off without dieting.

There are many times that I have switched my diet to a completely unprocessed plan and the weight has come off naturally as a result.  But equally, there are times when I have eaten far too much healthy food and I have struggled to lose any weight because my portion sizes were way too big.

Here is your homework for today.  Take just one of these action steps and do some more research until you have a plan for making it a part of your life.  Then write it down as a goal and read it every day for at least 21 days until it becomes a habit.

When you have made one of these actions a habit, come back and implement another habit.  Repeat and before you know it – you will have all of the habits of skinny people.
