If you’ve been following a healthy diet for a while now, perhaps it has crossed your mind to make a serving of green smoothie for lunch even while away at work.
It’s true that smoothies have already taken over our breakfast table, and that’s thanks in part to the healthy living advocacy which many of us has been trying to apply to our everyday life.
But have you ever considered making one especially for lunch?

After all, wouldn’t it be more beneficial if you consume only pure, natural goodness of blended greens and fruits for every meal?
I have pondered on this thought before, and after experimenting with ingredients and coming up with nutritious recipes, I am only convinced of one thing: you can take your green smoothies for lunch and even dinner, just like you would at breakfast time.
I’ve heard stories of how lunches have become boring for office employees, who would often reach for sodas in the vending machine to wash down their unappetizing meals.
Not only is it causing them to be unhealthy, but it also gives them the wrong idea that lunch should be taken this way.
The next time you plan what to eat for lunch, you may want to bring your own green smoothie using the recipe that I’m going to share with you today.
But before that, let me share the reasons why bringing your green smoothie for lunch at work is the best decision you’ll make for your health.
9 Reasons Why You Need A Smoothie For Lunch At Work
1) It is a great way to consume your fruits and leafy greens.
According to the director of Harvard’s Department of Nutrition, a green smoothie a day is better than not having any at all.
This came as a response to the reports that an average person doesn’t fully consume his daily dietary allowance of fruits and vegetables despite their health boosts and wellness benefits.
It is easy to pinpoint the culprits: our busy lifestyle and the poor palatability of leafy greens.
So instead of not being able to fill the nutrient void, experts at Harvard recommend that you “drink” your fruits and veggies.
If you’re more of a soda person, you can make the switch to a similarly sweet yet low-sugar green smoothie to cap off your meal or even replace your entire lunch with.
2) A green smoothie for lunch is filling enough to sustain your energy for work.
The same Harvard report has also included a recipe suggestion that aims to replace a whole meal, as experts believe that smoothies can be satisfying enough depending on the nutrients that have been added.
I have formulated my own recipes, which I have based on the nutritional content of each ingredient I use.

In order for you to reach satiety by only drinking smoothies for lunch, you should use plant-based proteins and healthy fats as well.
Such a feeling of fullness can even fuel your body throughout your workday so you can accomplish a lot and be more productive.
3) It is a convenient way to bring lunch at work.
Tired of having to wake up early to prep and cook your lunch?
You can switch to “drinkable meals” instead.
Green smoothies may be the answer to your packed-lunch dilemmas.
You’ll no longer have to bring your brown bag; all that you need to take with you is a handy, portable tumbler or thermos that will hold your smoothie.
4) It lets you keep up with your weight loss progress.
If you’ve been doing well with your weight loss efforts, it doesn’t hurt to level up your smoothie game by drinking it at lunch and dinner.
Diets that consist mainly of green smoothies can be more effective at weight management if you practice consistency.
You can replace a whole meal with a smoothie, which you can take any time of the day minus the bulk of calories that your slimming body won’t need.
Lunch is especially important since it should power you up for the remaining hours of the day; hence, you might as well make it count by substituting chewable yet empty-calorie foods with a glass of healthy smoothie.
5) It improves digestion.
Upset stomach and other digestive issues occurring at work can partly be blamed on the food choices and eating lifestyle that is being practiced in the office.
Because office work usually entails long hours of sitting, eating a heavy meal consisting mostly of hard-to-breakdown food won’t help and may even aggravate indigestion.
If you make the switch to a green smoothie for lunch, you’ll never have to experience these uncomfortable and sometimes, even embarrassing situations.
6) It keeps you hydrated.
90% of a green smoothie is water, which can help deliver hydration to your body better than any other beverages available in the office.
And that’s not just plain water—it has water-soluble vitamins coming from the plant-based ingredients that make up the smoothie.
So the next time you’re feeling thirsty, don’t reach for the energy drink or soda.
Opt to bring your own healthy drink in the form of a green smoothie.
7) It boosts your immune system.
Most of the ingredients of a green smoothie contain Vitamin C and other health components that help improve your immunity against diseases.
Since the office is among the places where viral airborne diseases can be contracted, you may want to protect yourself by drinking plenty of healthy beverages such as a smoothie.
8) It eliminates food waste.
How many times do you end up bringing back home the leftovers from your lunch?
If you are concerned with our planet just as much as you do with your health, you might want to lessen the wastage by opting to bring green smoothie for lunch at work.
By drinking smoothies, there’s a little chance that you’ll throw away leftovers as you only prepare what you can consume for the day.
9) It is affordable.
Aside from saving you several trips to the grocery for actual meal preparation, green smoothies also let you save money in the long run.
You’ll only need a few fresh ingredients and you can make batches of smoothies in one go, which you can save for later.
Indeed, that’s a brilliant way to cut down on the food budget.
How To Pack A Smoothie For Lunch At Work Or School
If you want your smoothie to stay cool until lunch, you can choose between blending with ice or frozen ingredients and freezing the mixture prior to consumption.
To pack it for lunch, you can also freeze the thermos itself or thaw the already frozen smoothie before placing it in an insulated and spill-proof lunchbox.
You’ll need a tumbler or thermos that has good insulation to keep your drink cool.
To freeze the smoothie for later use, you can pour it in stackable freezer jars and defrost them before transferring the contents into your tumbler or thermos.

Hi Katherine,I just wanted to tell you I completed the 7 day detox and I feel so great.
I have lost 6lbs, do not feel like I need more my morning coffee, the flushing of my facial skin from rosacea has dramatically reduced and I am so excited to wake up each morning and make a green thickie for breakfast!!
I am a stay at-home, homeschooling momma of 3 littles and at times so busy I would forget to feed myself!
I would go most of the day without eating and then snack on random things.
I gained 60 pounds the last 6 years during pregnancy.
I have lost 30lbs but recently plateaued and have felt so frustrated.
I’ve tried everything from paleo and keto to the point where I didn’t know what to eat or how much and felt like even eating fruit was bad for me which thankfully it’s not!
What a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing a simple but effective program.
I’m so excited to continue another week with this plan! Thankful Stephanie
