I finally stopped dieting and started eating whole foods. (I managed to lose 56 pounds without dieting)
Some foods can actually help you increase your metabolism, curb cravings, keep you full longer and help you keep the weight off. Here are my five favorite hunger reducing foods for weight loss!
Keep reading to the bottom of the post because I’m going to let you in on a secret about these five foods. You might think it’s pretty disgusting but I still think it’s something you will love if you try.
5 Hunger Reducing Foods For Weight Loss
This superfood is full of good monounsaturated fats called oleic acid which are a fatty acid like those found in olive oil.
Adding an avocado to your smoothie or salad will make it more filling because they have 7 grams of fiber!
They have the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and protecting you against heart disease!
2) Black beans
These are the best legumes you can eat for nutritional value and added weight loss benefits.
A one-cup serving of black beans gives you nearly 15 grams of fiber and 15 grams of protein! This outstanding combination of fiber and protein also helps to regulate blood sugar protecting against insulin resistance.
Black beans will keep you full and help you lose weight and curb cravings!
Contrary to popular belief, eggs are actually good for you and can help raise “good” cholesterol or HDL! They contain vital nutrients and are loaded with protein which is important for weight loss and building lean muscle mass.
Eggs are very satisfying and will keep you full longer than a carb laden breakfast like a bagel.
They also have the added benefit of protecting against strokes and lowering blood pressure!
Adding some grapefruit to your meal will help to balance your insulin levels. This means your body can more efficiently use food for energy rather than storing it as fat.
Grapefruit also contains protein and fiber and is very hydrating helping to fill you up and fight cravings.
Eating this heart healthy nut is one of the best things you can do to lose weight. It also protects you from gaining weight when consumed as part of a healthy diet.
Almonds contain monounsaturated fats that protect your cardiovascular system. They have the added benefit of helping you to eat a healthier diet overall.
Studies show that when almonds are added to the diet the consumption of unhealthy foods containing trans fatty acids, sodium, cholesterol and sugars actually decreased!
So there you have it! Which of these foods do you eat on a regular basis? Please leave a comment below.
I promised you I would share a secret about these 5 foods.
What do you think they have in common?
Would you believe me if I told you that they can all be smoothie ingredients?!
OK the grapefruit is a standard smoothie ingredient. The almonds are a staple in a Green Thickie and if you’ve read many real food recipes then you’ll know that avocado is a standard ingredient for making smoothies and desserts creamy and delicious.
But what about beans and egg?
Are you pulling a disgusted face at the thought of adding beans or egg to your smoothie?
I mean seriously – was it too much of a stretch to add spinach to your smoothie? And now we’re going crazy adding all kinds of ingredients to our smoothies.
I don’t blame you – but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
And if you catch your kids early enough, they just assume that all smoothies are green. They associate the green colour with a delicious taste.
Adding raw pastured eggs to your smoothie is one of the healthiest things you can do and it does not make your smoothie taste eggy. They blend up really nicely. And beans are very similar although they do have a totally different consistency to eggs in a smoothie.

Green Thickies new 7 Day Detox will help you drop a dress size, improve your skin, your energy will soar and you are going to be so in control and proud of yourself.
You won't go hungry on this diet ... And better yet - it actually requires minimal time in the kitchen.
Get results like this...Hi Katherine,
I just wanted to tell you I completed the 7 day detox and I feel so great.
I have lost 6lbs, do not feel like I need more my morning coffee, the flushing of my facial skin from rosacea has dramatically reduced and I am so excited to wake up each morning and make a green thickie for breakfast!!
I am a stay at-home, homeschooling momma of 3 littles and at times so busy I would forget to feed myself!
I would go most of the day without eating and then snack on random things.
I gained 60 pounds the last 6 years during pregnancy.
I have lost 30lbs but recently plateaued and have felt so frustrated.
I’ve tried everything from paleo and keto to the point where I didn’t know what to eat or how much and felt like even eating fruit was bad for me which thankfully it’s not!
What a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing a simple but effective program.
I’m so excited to continue another week with this plan! Thankful Stephanie
